HONORING WOMEN IN LABOR MOVEMENT
Mary Harris Jones, aka Mother Jones, was an Irish immigrant, school teacher, dress maker, and union/labor organizer. She was feisty and fearless. She organized strikes and fought for union rights during a time when women were expected to stay home and did not have the right to vote (Civil War time, folks, this was a women way ahead of her time). She was once called the most dangerous woman in America. Don’t you love ❤️ her! Raise HELL!
“No matter what the fight, don’t be ladylike!”
“Sit down and read. Educate yourself for the coming conflicts.”
― Mother Jones
Lucy Parsons was an American labor organizer. She was the OG Anarchist (an Original Gangsta). Although little is known about her childhood, many believe she was born a slave. In the 1920s the Chicago policy department called her “more dangerous than a thousand rioters.” She fought for the 8 hour day and other workers’ rights.
Not only was she an active force in the US labor movement, she was a political activist and fought for prison rights on behalf of people of color, women, and the disenfranchised. She understood that poverty and unemployment was a class issue and fought oppression her entire life.
Lucy was a Badass and not afraid to stand up for others.
Jane Addams was an activist, social worker, woman suffragette, protester and a Nobel Peace Prize winner. She felt women should play an active role in the community and this started with the right to vote. She cofounded Hull House (a settlement house in Chicago) and the ACLU. Her focus on ethics provide guidance for those seeking social justice today. She called for people to teach by example, to practice cooperation, and to practice social democracy, that is, egalitarian, or democratic, social relations across class lines.
She was an active force in passing the Federal Child Labor Law. She is well remembered for her political action for peace, her ethical values, compassion for others, and social work. If you are looking for an empathetic labor movement activist, Jane is your gal.
“It is well to remind ourselves, from time to time, that “Ethics” is but another word for “righteousness,” that for which many men and women of every generation have hungered and thirsted, and without which life becomes meaningless.”
― Jane Addams, Democracy and Social Ethics
#20 THINGS I HATE ABOUT TRUMP: DEFENDING BILL O’REILLY
Bill O’Reilly has been in the spotlight today since the news broke he reached settlement with five, yes 5, women who claimed he sexually assaulted them. The settlement payment is reported to be approximately 13 million dollars. As advertisers began to pull their advertising from FOX and the O’Reilly show, one champion for Bill emerges. Guess who? Pussy grabbing Trump, that is who.
“Personally, I think he shouldn’t have settled,” Mr. Trump said in an interview in the Oval Office with Times reporters. “Because you should have taken it all the way; I don’t think Bill did anything wrong.”
“I think he’s a person I know well — he is a good person,” Mr. Trump said.
Trump instead of using the opportunity to publicly take a stance against sexual assault, workplace harassment or misogyny and stand up for the victims–he decides to side with the accused. Are you surprised? This is a man that bragged about grabbing pussy on film which aired during his campaign—and Trumpsters elected him anyway. Can we really be surprised by his depraved character now?
The interesting thing is Trump’s endorsement that O’Reilly is a “good guy” may actually backfire for O’Reilly and FOX. Remember who else Trump called a good guy? Putin, that’s who.
As of this afternoon 30 advertisers have pulled their ads from the O’Reilly Factor. I think it is about time companies start evaluating their relationship with Fox News. What role did Murdock and Fox play in the election of this buffoon? When will the people realize that when FOX uses gimmicks like fear mongering and pushes an alt-right agenda that they are degrading America and all the things that make it great. I am convinced FOX and the FOX FANATICS are one of the reasons (Russia/Putin also playing a role) the US and our Presidency is the laughing stock of the rest of the world.

#5 THINGS I HATE ABOUT TRUMP: MISOGYNIST TRUMP
Things I Hate About Trump #5
Misogynist Trump
There are many reasons why I never believed Trump could be elected President and his treatment of women was one of them. As a 46 year old woman, I never believed in this day and age that a man of this caliber would be anything other than castigated for behavior like this; instead, the public elected him President. Disheartening to say the least. For me, marching in protest in DC on January 21st was something I could not miss. I remember telling my husband I signed up to go to the March with a bunch of women that I did not know. I had found the group on Facebook and they were organizing buses from a nearby town. He was worried about potential violence and the fact that I did not know anyone I was going with. I told him that this was something I had to do and I was going no matter what. I was not worried or afraid. I was determined and fired up.
My husband is a great and kind man and is very supportive. He would have marched with me but our 3 boys had activities, sports and rides to college that needed to take place that day. He did it all so I could march in protest.
I don’t understand the women who support Trump. Did they grow up hearing “locker room” talk. Is this behavior acceptable to them? Is it acceptable for their children? Everyone talks about their daughters but as a mother of 3 boys, identifying this behavior as unacceptable is just as important. I am raising my men to be Feminists. I want them to treat and respect women as their equals. They are not superior and this misogynist behavior will not be tolerated–at least by those who did not vote for Trump..
Here is a clip highlighting the severe character flaws of our President elect.
I marched with millions of my #RESISTERS that day (and a few friends from my super Republican town). For me, the march continues until Trump and his cronies are out of office.

#2 THINGS I HATE ABOUT TRUMP: PUSSY GRABBING
Day 2 of Things I Hate About Trump
He talks about grabbing women by the pussy and sexual assault as if he is entitled to women. Billy Bush lost his job over this but we elect Trump, the person who made the sexual assault claim, as President. Yup, the world has gone insane. We normalized misogyny and set the world back over 20+ years. The worst part for me was that Trumpsters on the Trump Train were still willing to overlook his severe character flaws, this disgusting behavior was OK with them. Let me make it clear this “locker room” talk is offensive on every level. Listen to the entire disgusting exchange here or see transcript below.
Dialog:
Donald J. Trump: You know and …
Unknown: She used to be great. She’s still very beautiful.
Trump: I moved on her, actually. You know, she was down on Palm Beach. I moved on her, and I failed. I’ll admit it.
Unknown: Whoa.
Trump: I did try and fuck her. She was married.
Unknown: That’s huge news.
Trump: No, no, Nancy. No, this was [unintelligible] — and I moved on her very heavily. In fact, I took her out furniture shopping.
She wanted to get some furniture. I said, “I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.” I took her out furniture —
I moved on her like a bitch. But I couldn’t get there. And she was married. Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything. She’s totally changed her look.
Billy Bush: Sheesh, your girl’s hot as shit. In the purple.
Trump: Whoa! Whoa!
Bush: Yes! The Donald has scored. Whoa, my man!
[Crosstalk]
Trump: Look at you, you are a pussy.
[Crosstalk]
Trump: All right, you and I will walk out.
[Silence]
Trump: Maybe it’s a different one.
Bush: It better not be the publicist. No, it’s, it’s her, it’s —
Trump: Yeah, that’s her. With the gold. I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.
Bush: Whatever you want.
Trump: Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.
Bush: Uh, yeah, those legs, all I can see is the legs.
Trump: Oh, it looks good.
Bush: Come on shorty.
Trump: Ooh, nice legs, huh?
Bush: Oof, get out of the way, honey. Oh, that’s good legs. Go ahead.
Trump: It’s always good if you don’t fall out of the bus. Like Ford, Gerald Ford, remember?
Bush: Down below, pull the handle.
Trump: Hello, how are you? Hi!
Arianne Zucker: Hi, Mr. Trump. How are you? Pleasure to meet you.
Trump: Nice seeing you. Terrific, terrific. You know Billy Bush?
Bush: Hello, nice to see you. How you doing, Arianne?
Zucker: Doing very well, thank you. Are you ready to be a soap star?
Bush: How about a little hug for the Donald? He just got off the bus.
Zucker: Would you like a little hug, darling?
Trump: O.K., absolutely. Melania said this was O.K.
Bush: How about a little hug for the Bushy? I just got off the bus.
Zucker: Bushy, Bushy.
Bush: Here we go. Excellent. Well, you’ve got a nice co-star here.
Zucker: Yes, absolutely.
Trump: Good. After you.
[Break in video]
Trump: Come on, Billy, don’t be shy.
Bush: Soon as a beautiful woman shows up, he just, he takes off. This always happens.
Trump: Get over here, Billy.
Zucker: I’m sorry, come here.
Bush: Let the little guy in here, come on.
Zucker: Yeah, let the little guy in. How you feel now? Better? I should actually be in the middle.
Bush: It’s hard to walk next to a guy like this.
Zucker: Here, wait, hold on.
Bush: Yeah, you get in the middle, there we go.
Trump: Good, that’s better.
Zucker: This is much better. This is —
Trump: That’s better.
Zucker: [Sighs]
Bush: Now, if you had to choose honestly between one of us. Me or the Donald?
Trump: I don’t know, that’s tough competition.
Zucker: That’s some pressure right there.
Bush: Seriously, if you had — if you had to take one of us as a date.
Zucker: I have to take the Fifth on that one.
Bush: Really?
Zucker: Yup — I’ll take both.
Trump: Which way?
Zucker: Make a right. Here we go. [inaudible]
Bush: Here he goes. I’m gonna leave you here.
Trump: O.K.
Bush: Give me my microphone.
Trump: O.K. Oh, you’re finished?
Bush: You’re my man, yeah.
Trump: Oh, good.
Bush: I’m gonna go do our show.
Zucker: Oh, you wanna reset? O.K.
